Pin up please!

For a while now my favorite fashion style has been the 1940's and 1950's pin up girl look, I love this style for its provocative femininity while still being elegant. Woman at that time knew that to drive men wild you accentuated your features you didn't go around half naked showing them everything you have. I have shopped around (online) looking for that style and most sites all have the same things, The 1950's housewife dress, the military inspired outfit, the high waist shorts, cigarette pants and bowling Ts. Now I love all of these things but not only are they INSANELY priced they are all too similar. I plan on creating my own line of pin up inspired clothing. It will be the 1940's and 1950's but with a much needed twist. I have books and books of sketches that will soon become a line. I plan on showing everyone on a new blog my progress with it, now it won't be starting for a little bit but I'm so excited that I had to blog about it! so stay tuned :D

Plus size clothing

Did you know that 65% of american women are overweight, 35% of them are obese. Most designer clothing don't go past a size 10! Now before I get too into this I just want to say I'm not saying that being obese okay, I think as long as your healthy that should be enough. I think designers need to start realizing that not every women is skinny and that a size 10 is unrealistic for some women. I know plenty of beautiful and healthy women that are curvier then a size ten. Now some designers are embracing the fact that things like child birth naturally enlarge a women hips and design for plus size women. My favorite store Torrid, has been dressing curvy women in all the latest trends for years, but what most women don't realize is that Torrid carries as small as a size 12, they hear its a specialty store for plus size women and move on.

I admire women like Adele who said; ‘My weight has never been an issue, I’ve never hung out with the sort of horrible people who make it an issue’ I think with that attitude it would inspire women to be more confident and in turn stop gaining weight from things like stress.

A few designers have jumped on the band wagon, in creating beautiful and fun clothing for full figured women instead of the awful large print, crazy patterned, no shape shit you find at Wal-Mat.

I hope that not only will women that have curves will get more fashionable clothing available but also something that will fit their bodies correctly. But you've heard me bitch about that before lol. Pictures are as fallows top: Torrid second: Adele third: Melissa McCartney

What to wear this Spring / Summer

I dunno about you guys but I am so ready for warmer weather! and with warmer weather new fashions! Here is a list of the top trends that everyone is going crazy for! Lets start with colorful cropped pants like these from The Gap.

Then we have Floral Frenzy, This trend is a almost every spring, but this year the flowers have taken on a bold and crazy attitude! This Floral outfit is from DKNY.

The bralet! basically this is a form fitting belly shirt. This bold and daring piece can be worn with a blazer for a more professional feel, under a sheer top for a bit of edge or if your a daring bad ass wear it alone with some skinny jeans and heels! Bralet done by Lolita.

The color Orange is everywhere! This dress done by Alexander McQueen.

Say hello to "Glam Sports" This trend I don't particularly like or understand but its one of this seasons biggest trends. This sassy sports inspired outfit is by Isabal Marant.

A Native touch. Native American patterns are being heavily used this season. This earthy texture will be seen on everything from purses to full dresses. This dress is Herve Leger by Max Azria.

Pale please! pale hues are the colors to have right now, blues and greens are the most ones being used. but of course we couldn't go pale without some pink and yellow in there too. This pale trio is done by Ralph Lauren.

A pinch of Peplum. Peplum's are sneaking there way back in to ad shape and femininity to the season. For those you don't know a Peplum is a short over-skirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse or dress. going from left to right we have; Marc by Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu, Ohne Titel, and Cushnie et Ochs.

The Roaring 20's! Drop the waist line, put on a cloche, add the jewels and slap on some fringe because twenties inspired dresses are dancing their way into the summer! Ralph Lauren introduces the flapper era.

Lingerie

Did you know?

French women spend 20% of their yearly salary on lingerie. Typically american women wait for special occasions to by new, fun or sexy lingerie. I like the french outlook on this. By wearing expensive, sexy or fun lingerie underneath your everyday clothes you boost your confidence. There is something about wearing something amazing underneath your work clothes that makes you feel a bit mysterious, a little naughty and hella sexy! and there is nothing wrong with that.
The classic lingerie like garters, thigh high stockings and lace were mostly worn out of necessity. Today there are so many tricks to making a women look "the perfect" body type. everything is padded and sucks in. I say enjoy the body you have and don't worry so much about appealing to others. Instead make yourself feel sexy and everyone else will see it too.

No designer for Dior !?

Dior still has not chosen a head designer after Galliano's Anti-semantic rant. There are rumors that Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Riccardo TIsci will be one of the designers to take over. However, Mark Jacobs recently renewed his contract with Louis Vuitton, Riccardo Tisci states he is very happy at Givenchy, and I haven't heard anything more on Alexander Wang.
Designer Bill Gaytten and his assistant Susanna Venegas had a chance to shine for the Fall 2011 Haute Couture line. The line was busy, unattractive and not very creative. The line was just unimpressive, Christian Dior is probably turning in his grave. Although Galliano was a bit crazy he stuck true to what Dior was famous for, Class, inspiration and femininity.
I hope that Dior finds a new and talented designer that would make Christian Dior proud.

Claws!

There is a new trend with fingernails that I could do without.
They are called Stilettos.
Not only is this vampiress trend extremely unattractive I think they look scary as hell! I'm not sure what would compel any women to look like an animal. These nails are fun in movies for a bitchy villain but in everyday life they just make you look bitchy.
Thanks goodness though, this trend should not be lasting long. We are starting to see a bit more natural shaped nails in Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Lets hope these nails don't come back then they are gone.

Fabric Made of Milk!!!

That's right Microbiologist and designer Anke Domaske has created a fabric made completely of milk. Qmilch, is what they are calling it. The word is a combination of the word quality and the German word for milk.
The sour milk is made into a protein powder, heated, and then spun into fabric. It takes just two liters of water to create half a pound of fabric! This fabric is supposed to be great for people with skin allergy's. Its as soft as silk, and as durable and as breathable as cotton. They found a way to produce this fabric without any chemical additives so it 100% environmentally friendly.
I think its pretty amazing what people can create out of the most unexpected things. I would have never thought it would be possible to make a lasting, good quality fabric out of something we drink.
