God bless fashion!

The Fourth of July is coming up! show off you patriotic side with these celebrity worthy American flag denim shorts. (find them at Polyvore.com) These patriotic shorts have been popping up all summer long and what better way to celebrate the 4th then by showing off your sun kissed legs.
Another great way to show off your country spirit is to create your own red, white and blue statement.. especially if you ad an oh-so-trendy 70's twist like in the photo below.

Menswear...........for Women!

*This suit is from Gucci

I love this trend that pops up every so often. Menswear for women, power suits, vest, ties, fedoras, and so much more!
Just a brief history. This trend originated in the mid 1970's but it really hit its stride in the 1980's when more women started to work more prestigious job. They were no longer being seen as fragile creatures only meant for the kitchen. they call them power suits for a reason. This is where "power dressing" started. I'm just glad they've gotten rid of the outrageous shoulder pads.
Now if you plan to rock this bold, professional statement the best way to do this is to keep it feminine. make sure you accentuate your silhouette by using cinched waist vests or jackets, high waist pants (if you have the right shape for that) or a pencil skirt. you can also use soft fabrics for a blouse like chiffon, silk or satin. A neutral color suit with a bright or floral blouse or tie makes a great statement.
I love this look if its kept feminine!

Maxed out!

I have seen a ton of maxi dresses this summer and I gotta say, I am in LOVE!! I never thought of myself as the maxi dress kind of girl. I couldn't find any long enough or that accentuated my curves in the right way. Usually it was like I was wearing a tent.
I recently got a maxi dress at Old Navy. I was hesitant to try it on but the pattern and colors were so fun I just couldn't resist. The dress looked so good on! It is an empire cut so it was tight around my chest and flared out, sleeveless, lightweight and it hit the floor (never an easy thing to find) I then realized that its the length that mostly determines if a maxi dress will look good. Of course the cut of the neck, color, sleeves or sleeveless, and shape of how it fits on your body has a pretty big role in how it will look, the length makes or breaks it.
So next time you see a maxi dress and think to your self "maxi dresses just don't look good on me" TRY IT ON FIRST! Generally that is my rule with everything. I would hate for you to miss out on the comfy, continent and very cute trend this summer.

Pin up please!

For a while now my favorite fashion style has been the 1940's and 1950's pin up girl look, I love this style for its provocative femininity while still being elegant. Woman at that time knew that to drive men wild you accentuated your features you didn't go around half naked showing them everything you have. I have shopped around (online) looking for that style and most sites all have the same things, The 1950's housewife dress, the military inspired outfit, the high waist shorts, cigarette pants and bowling Ts. Now I love all of these things but not only are they INSANELY priced they are all too similar. I plan on creating my own line of pin up inspired clothing. It will be the 1940's and 1950's but with a much needed twist. I have books and books of sketches that will soon become a line. I plan on showing everyone on a new blog my progress with it, now it won't be starting for a little bit but I'm so excited that I had to blog about it! so stay tuned :D
